Terra d'Oro Condivisa Blend 2017
The 2017 Condivisa is a complex wine that reveals new layers with each sip. Aromas of black cherry and berry, violet, crème brûlée and leather fill the glass. The wine is beautifully balanced on the palate, with layers of fruit complemented by notes of coffee and cocoa powder, and round, velvety tannins.
Trinchero Napa Valley provided Cabernet Sauvignon from two of its St. Helena vineyards. The 11-acre Mario’s Vineyard is situated on benchland off the slope of Spring Mountain and its rocky soils bring out the opulence and dark fruit character in Cabernet. Central Park Vineyard is located at the southern end of the St. Helena appellation and its deep, loamy soils add red fruit and finesse to the finished wine.
A collaboration between Terra d’Oro and Trinchero Napa Valley, this limited-edition Super Tuscan is a blend of each winery’s best barrels of the best wines of 2017. By not tying ourselves to a specific blend or variety, we allow the vintage and terroir to drive the story this wine tells from year to year. Italian varietals thrive in the warm climate and rolling foothills of Amador County. For this vintage, we selected Barbera from our Veauta Ranch and Shenandoah Ranch estate vineyards, and Teroldego from our Burke estate vineyard. Veauta is planted on a south-facing slope and its Barbera offers great intensity in color and fruit character, while Shenandoah’s Barbera added a beautiful minerality, earthiness and tannin structure in 2017. The Teroldego flourishes in Burke’s mineral-rich soils and adds deep color and intense fruit character.
After completing malolactic fermentation, both property’s winemakers worked together to craft the final blend, which was then aged 20 months in French oak. Using a mix of 28% new and 72% neutral oak kept the varietal characteristics the primary focus of this elegant wine. 59% Barbera 35% Cabernet Sauvignon (from Napa sister winery) 6% Teroldego
